About Shoreline Pest & Wildlife Control

Though small at first, Shoreline Services began to grow steadily. From homeowners to large food and pharmaceutical plants, Bob and Daryl saw to it that each client was treated honestly, fairly, and safely. That's why many of those same clients remain our valued customers to this day.

Bob retired from Shoreline Services in 1998 and passed away in 2002 at the age of 70. His presence is greatly missed by both his many loved ones and the Shorline community. However, Bob and Daryl's commitment to making Shoreline Pest & Wildlife Control the most professional pest management firm in West Michigan lives on and can still be seen in our service today.

Daryl and Bob

Our Story

Shoreline Co-founders Bob VandenBerg and Daryl Andringa served together as employees of a large pest control company for over 14 years. Together, they had built a reputation for strong, personal customer service in the West Michigan Lakeshore area. Over the years, they were saddened to see a decline in the “old-fashioned”, personal approach to customer service.

They longed to give their local customers the high-quality service that is so often sacrificed for the sake of growth and profit. So, they decided it was time to strike out on their own. After more than two years of planning, Shoreline Services, Inc. was officially opened for business in the Autumn of 1990.

Going Green

Can a pest control company be "green"?

Absolutely! At Shoreline Pest & Wildlife Control, environmental responsibility has been our standard operating procedure since 1990. Unlike other companies that rely on broad-spectrum pesticides, we practice Integrated Pest Management, controlling pests while minimizing risks to the environment. We believe the days of thoughtless “spray & go” tactics are long gone.

Our technicians carefully analyze each situation to select a control method that will take care of our client's needs while having the least impact on non-target species. Other pest control companies spray highly toxic materials that, along with killing the target pest, will impact other species like butterflies, hummingbirds, praying mantis, and honey bees for many months.

At Shoreline Pest & Wildlife Control, however, we carefully select bait material that's designed to attract only the target pest, protecting other species from harm. We also practice ethical wildlife control methods. Before trapping a nuisance animal, our Wildlife Control Division first evaluates preventative measures, making sure that trapping is the only option. We make every effort to have protected and domestic animals released to the proper authorities, set free in an appropriate wildlife area, or placed with a responsible family.

In addition to responsible control methods, Shoreline Pest & Wildlife Control is always pursuing ways to help our environment as a whole. Current measures include consolidating service routes to reduce fuel usage and recycling materials that are safe to re-use.

Embracing Technology

At Shoreline Pest & Wildlife Control, we are constantly looking for new ways to improve our services. That includes investing in modern pest control technologies that help us do our job better. While some companies may say "the old ways work just fine," we believe "just fine" is just not good enough. Some of our cutting-edge tools and methods include:

01

Portable electronic recording of pest control services, offering expanded record retention, reducing the potential for reporting errors, and allowing clients online access.

02

Infrared thermal imaging devices to inspect for rodent and insect nest heat signatures in void or unlit areas.

03

Miniature video probe cameras to inspect small openings or harborage areas.

04

Special hand-held, high-intensity lights and spectrum frequency filtering lenses.  Normally used in crime scene investigations, we use them to illuminate bedbug eggs, rodent urine, and blood.

05

Ultraviolet analyzers to ensure proper placement and function of insect light traps in bright areas

06

Cloud-based communication to allow transfer of incoming phone calls, emails, voicemails, and text documents to technicians in the field as well as maintain a secure, paperless communication log.

These investments are much more than fun toys to use in the field. Each one allows us to serve our clients better. We think you deserve it.
